PERMANENT EXHIBITION

During a first phase, the Museum consists of four spaces open to the public: In the first place, there are the roons devoted to permanent exhibition, located within a building that was formerly a convent and, since 1931 the so called “Hogar del Minero”( home of the Miner). Both the everyday life at the coalface and the different usages of coal are displayed here. Secondly, we can find a dwelling of the colony dating from the forties. There is also a room for audio-visual shows and, finally, 450 meteres of the Sant Romŕ mine gallery where, by means of a paddy train, it is possible to see how was the work inside the mine from the end of the XIXth century until the last years of the XXth century. And lastly, visitors will be able to take a walk throughout the mining colony and its area of influence.

More than the miner colonies there was a wide zone of services too (mechanise, workshop plumber’s, storage’s, a company dispensary, co-operative store, coal washouse, offices, etc.)
